In March of 2008 RHT Energy Solutions (RHT) installed two solar arrays that have a total capacity of 10,000 watts. The system uses Mitsubishi 170 watt panels and Fronius inverters which annually provide 95% of RHT's power needs. The two arrays power both of RHT's offices and provide a solar shade for employee parking. The structure was designed by Dave Morris (PE at RHT) and captures the optimum fixed angle for maximum solar collection. In order to meet City codes the structures had to be able to withstand 95 mph wind gusts, 25 pound-per-square-foot snow load, and meet requirements for Seismic Zone D1. The installation was done by Electron Connection of Hornbrook, California and constructed by Progressive Builders of Medford, Oregon.
"With current federal and state tax credits and incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon, the system pays for itself in 4.5 years and I recover half of the initial investment in the very first year. PV power is not only the 'green choice', it is a wise financial investment. Worrying about rate increases for my business is a thing of the past."
